How to reduce agriculture footprint on natural forests? Can agro-ecological principles be applied to agricultural systems in tropical forested landscapes and increase both the performances and sustainability of these systems?

Rationale

To apprehend agro-ecological intensification and the factors determining the implementation of agro-ecological practices, practitioners need to acquire multi-disciplinary knowledge, and develop capacities of innovative thinking.

Pedagogical resources and trainings on this subject already exist in France and Europe, but access to them is limited for professional technicians and tropical countries’ students.

 A single online platform gathering pedagogical resources and analytical tools, and providing links to existing digital material on agro-ecological intensification, would facilitate access to knowledge and capacity-building materials on this thematic.

Tools to support teaching-learning processes have to be tested and validated in the field.

The field validation facilitates a feed-back between farmers, field technicians and researchers, which subsequently allow an adaptation of the pedagogical resources and tools to local conditions.
